Iran oil minister leaves for Venezuela

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oji left Tehran for Caracas on Wednesday for talks with his Venezuelan counterpart Pedro Rafael Tellechea and other high-ranking officials of the Latin American country.

Oji is scheduled to discuss different issues including the export of Iran’s engineering services, construction of extraterritorial refineries, and the overhaul of refineries. His talks will also focus on creating markets for Iran’s private sector companies active in oil industry, particularly in petrochemical projects.

The Iranian oil industry has special capacities, making it significant for the country to have a presence in the lucrative market of Latin America. In this regard, the Iranian Oil Ministry’s measures to develop ties with the Latin American states has paved the way for Iranian firms active in the oil industry to enter that market.

Efforts by the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi to help Iranian companies to have a strong presence in Latin American markets have already proven to be fruitful, as the volume of Iran-Venezuela oil exchanges has jumped to nearly $3.5 to $4 billion since August 2021 when he took office, which is regarded as a big achievement.
