The Supreme Leader’s visit on Wednesday took place on the eve of 10-day celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Ayatollah Khamenei commemorated Imam Khomeini by reading prayers and verses of the holy Quran inside his mausoleum, which is located to the south of Tehran.
The leader also paid a visit to the graves of Ayatollah Mohammad Hossein Beheshti, Mohammad Ali Rajayi, and Mohammad Javad Bahonar, the three senior Iranian government officials who were assassinated in the early years of the Revolution.
The graves are located in Tehran’s Garden of Martyrs which is located next to the shrine of Imam Khomeini.
