One million in Iran screened for colorectal cancer using nano kit

Tehran, IRNA – About one million individuals have been screened for colorectal cancer in Iran using a domestically-developed nano kit.

The diagnostic kit is among medical items produced by a knowledge-based company called Sanje Bio, which also manufactures other kits for pregnancy detection, female hormone (LH) testing, and cardiac troponin indicator (cTnI) for heart attacks.

“We have two types of kits for colorectal cancer diagnosis; an older generation kit imported into Iran and a new generation kit. Both kits are nanotechnology-based, and currently, we produce one million older generation kits annually for screening at health centers,” Hamed Bagheri, the CEO of the company, said.

Bagheri further said that the Iranian Ministry of Health plans to screen three million individuals for colorectal cancer, adding that one-third of them have undergone screening using the nanokits developed by Sanje Bio.

The new kit is currently in the clinical trial phase, with 400 patients undergoing testing at two hospitals in Tehran, he said.

“After successful validation, we plan to export these new-generation kits globally,” he added.
