Amirabdollahian said on Sunday that Iran firmly believes that security can be achieved through good neighborliness, a policy high on the agenda of the Iranian administration.
“We will not allow enemies to target friendship, peace and security in the region,” he said.
It came a day after gunmen killed at least nine Pakistani nationals and injured three others in the suburb of the city of Saravan in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
“We have witnessed terrorist movements in the northern region of Iraq and the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan, and with the view that terrorists have targeted the security of Iran and its neighbors, namely what happened in Pakistan’s Balochistan and the Kurdistan region of Iraq, we have had positive talks with their officials,” said Amirabdollahian.
Pointing the situation in Gaza, the chief Iranian diplomat said the Islamic Republic has said from the beginning of the crisis that war is not a solution and only destabilizes the situation in the region.
Everyone would benefit from security in the West Asian region, the Red Sea and in the world, he said, calling for multilateral talks to resolve regional issues. He also described Iran as an active player in this regard.
