Israeli regime seeks to bring 16,000 Indian workers to West Bank: Report

Tehran, IRNA – The Zionist regime seeks to bring 16,000 Indian workers to replace Palestinian workers in the occupied West Bank, according to a report.

Ramallah News reported that thousands of Indians flocked to an employment center on Thursday, hoping to find work in the occupied territories, despite the Zionist regime’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

Most Indians applying to work in the occupied territories say they would risk a chance in a region mired in war, while they struggle to find jobs in India, where unemployment remains high.

Anoop Singh, a university graduate and construction worker, said if he is chosen to go to the occupied territories, he will receive about $1,600 per month, a much larger amount than the ($360-$420) he could get per month doing the same work in India.

“That’s why I applied to go to [the occupied territories],” Singh said as he waited at an employment center in Lucknow, the capital of India’s most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, for a job interview. “I know there is a threat, but there are problems here too.”

More than 26,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Zionist regime’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

The regime has faced charges of war crimes and genocide against Palestinian people in the course of its bloody war on the besieged territory.
