-- Iran, Niger ink two cooperation deals

Iran and Niger on Wednesday signed two documents on expanding cooperation in the economic, political and health sectors, Xinhua reported.
During a ceremony in the Iranian capital Tehran, officials from both countries signed a document on the comprehensive economic and political cooperation as well as a memorandum of understanding for collaboration in the health sector, the report said.

-- Iran, Tajikistan to implement visa-free travel pact: Envoy

Iran and Tajikistan will soon implement a pact on the cancellation of visa requirements, which was signed during a recent visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the Central Asian country.
Iranian Ambassador to Dushanbe Alireza Haqiqian announced the above in a meeting with Faizulla Barotzoda, the head of Tajikistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, held in the Tajik capital on Thursday.

--  Iran plans to export renewables-oriented electricity: SATBA

The head of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) said that planning is underway to export electricity generated by wind and solar power plants in the country.
Mahmoud Kamani put the current generation capacity of the renewable power plants in Iran at 1,122 megawatts, adding that the construction operation of new power plants, with a total capacity of 11,000 megawatts, is underway in the country.

-- Father’s Day Celebrated in Iran

Iranians on Thursday celebrated Father’s Day on January 25, which is the symbol of parental support in the country.
Father’s Day in the Persian calendar coincides with the birth anniversary of Shia Muslims’ first Imam, Imam Ali (AS).
Imam Ali (AS) is the father and grandfather of other Shia Muslim imams, and his wife’s birth anniversary is dubbed Mother’s Day in the Persian calendar. Fatima Zahra (SA) is the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

--  Road Freight Transport in Iran Breaks Ten-Year Record in 2023

The performance report of the transport sector in Iran shows increases in nine indices when compared to the best records in the last ten years.
Based on the latest performance report of the transport sector published by Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) during nine months from March 2023 to December 2023, nine indices in the road, rail, and maritime sectors have had growths in 2023 compared to the best records in the last ten years.

-- Ministry of Agriculture Exports 150 Tonnes of Saffron

The commissioner of the pharmaceutical plants’ project of Ministry of Agriculture Hussein Zeinali has said that over 150 tonnes of saffron were exported from the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).
It is predicted that 250 tonnes of saffron will have been produced in the country by the yearend (March 20, 2024), Hussein Zeinali stated.According to the statistics, 150 tonnes of saffron were exported from March 21 to November 22, 2023, the commissioner said. He noted that the country exported 244 tonnes of saffron in 2022.

-- International section of 42nd Fajr Film Festival to kick off February 6

The International Section of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), Iran’s most important film event, will start on February 6 in Tehran.

According to the public relations of the festival, the international section of the FIFF will include the International Competition (Cinema Salvation), Eastern Vista (Films from Asian-Islamic Countries), and Festival of Festivals.

This edition of the festival has received a total of 621 submissions from 87 countries. The final line-up for the international section has not yet been announced.

-- Iran, Turkey conclude 10 co-op documents during President Raisi’s visit

 Iran and Turkey inked 10 cooperation documents and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to boost bilateral investment and economic cooperation between the two countries during Iranian President Raisi’s official trip to the neighboring country on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

During President Raisi’s visit to Ankara, the two sides held the eighth meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation which was also attended by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

-- Iran, OCHA to boost cooperation in rapid response to incidents

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the Disaster Management Organization (DMO) of Iran conferred on ways to enhance cooperation in dealing with emergencies, providing rapid response to incidents, and taking humanitarian measures.

Birgit Velte, the OCHA humanitarian affairs officer for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and Nejad Jahani, the DMO deputy director for reconstruction and rehabilitation affairs, met in Tehran on Sunday, January 21.
