Envoy: Time ripe for turning new leaf in Iran, Pakistan ties

Tehran, IRNA – Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, who left for Tehran on Friday to resume his diplomatic mission, has said that the time is ripe for turning a new leaf in bilateral relations.

"In conformity with the sincere & good wishes of Pakistan’s leadership, I am en route to Tehran," Mudassir Tipu wrote on his X account on Friday.

"Ever more determined to work for a more robust, stronger & peace-loving Pakistan," he added.

"Strong Pakistan & Iran are critical for region & to promote historic people to people ties . Time to turn a new leaf."

Earlier on Thursday, Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that the upcoming visit by his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian to Islamabad is a step toward consolidating mutual anti-terrorism cooperation.

Tehran and Islamabad enjoy a very close and amicable relationship, he added.

Iran and Pakistan issued a joint statement on January 15, announcing the return of their ambassadors to their missions in each other’s capitals, and that Amirabdollahian will visit Islamabad on January 29.
