Iranian, Turkish presidents hold private meeting in Ankara

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held a two-hour private meeting at Ak-Saray Palace in Turkiye’s capital Ankara.

Raisi, heading a political and economic delegation to participate in the eighth meeting of the Iran-Turkiye Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation, arrived in Ankara earlier on Wednesday and was welcomed by Erdogan.

The two presidents then held private talks, and later co-chaired the eighth meeting of their countries’ Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation.

In that meeting, the Turkish and Iranian sides agreed to expand cooperation on economic, security, political, cultural, and sports fields, among others.

Raisi and Erdogan are also scheduled to hold a joint press conference to elaborate on results of their consultations. They will attend a meeting of Iranian and Turkish tradesmen as well. Raisi meanwhile will meet Iranian nationals living in Turkiye.
