In a letter published on Sunday and addressed to Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab, who serves as the chancellor of Iran’s University of Religions and Denominations, the pope said attacks on hospitals and churches run by the Christian community in Gaza had deeply injured the feelings of Christians.
The letter came in response to Navvab’s correspondence with the Pope in which the Iranian cleric had condemned the Israeli regime’s attack in mid-October on Al-Ahli al-Arabi Hospital, also known as Al Mamadani Hospital, in Gaza, as well as an attack on the Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church later that month.
Pope thanked Navvab for his sympathy for the Christian community in Gaza while expressing hope that the war in Gaza could end soon.
