Jordan students withdraw int’l contest in solidarity with Palestine

Tehran, IRNA – More than 100 Jordanian students have announced their withdrawal from competing at an international student competition in a bid to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people.

According to the Arabi21 TV network, these Jordanian students refuse to participate in the world-renowned competition dubbed the Hult Prize, because they have been informed that Israeli university students are going to compete in the event.

Some Jordanian sources also said that 30 student teams from Jordan withdrew from the annual contest.

The Hult Prize is the biggest student competition, which is held at thousands of universities around the world and students present their innovations in different fields. Each year, the winning team is awarded $1,000,000 to transform a visionary idea into a tangible reality.

Since the onset of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Jordan has been the scene of numerous protest rallies in support of the Palestinians.

On January 19, thousands of Jordanian people poured onto streets after Friday prayers to show solidarity with the oppressed Gaza residents and praise the Palestinians’ resistance in the face of the Israeli regime during the last 100 days.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health declared that the Israeli war on Gaza has left 24,927 martyrs and 62,388 wounded since the beginning of the relentless onslaught.
