The ministry issued its statement hours after the airstrike that left several Syrian forces and five Iranian military advisors martyred.
“The racist Israeli entity launched a brutal aggression on Saturday, January 20, 2024, targeting one of the civilian neighborhoods in Damascus and this inhumane act resulted in the complete collapse of a residential building,” the statement said, according to Syria’s SANA official news agency.
The ministry called the aggression “barbaric”, which along with Israel’s genocide in Gaza, proved the “criminal nature” of the regime.
It called on the international community to take immediate action to stop “these crimes and massacres committed by the Zionist entity against innocent civilians and civilian property.”
The ministry also called on the countries of the world to stand up against what it called genocidal policies of the Israeli regime, while urging the UN Security Council to hold Israeli “political and military criminals” accountable and bring an end to their “inhumane and immoral policies”.
