Raisi attends SNSC meetings to discuss operations in Iran, Pakistan

Tehran, IRNA – An Iranian informed source has said that Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi took part in two meetings of the Supreme National Security Council to evaluate recent attack on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, as well as Islamabad’s response.

The informed source told IRNA on the condition of anonymity that during the two meetings, which were held Thursday morning and afternoon, Iranian officials underlined the need for preserving national security with the use of all available means.

The source also said that the Islamic Republic gives importance to security cooperation with neighboring states, when it comes to fighting terrorism.

According to the source, the so-called Jaish al-Adl terrorist group set up training and military headquarters in non-residential areas of Pakistan’s mountainous regions with the aim of getting prepared for future terrorist attacks on Iran, but the Wednesday night missile strike by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) hit a heavy blow to them.

As to Pakistan’s retaliatory attack on Iran, the source noted that this strike was conducted by small explosive drones, which targeted Pakistani residents of the joint Iran-Pakistan borderline.
