Khordad 15 missile system smashes targets in Iran Army-IRGC drills

Tehran, IRNA – The Khordad 15 missile system has demolished medium-altitude targets in the specialized joint air defense exercise codenamed Defenders of Velayat Skies 1402.

The indigenous Khordad 15 air defense system of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army's Air Defense Force, which has been manufactured by Iranian young scientists, successfully intercepted and neutralized certain targets by the use of integrated air defense network.

Amir-Abbas Farajpour, the spokesperson for the specialized joint air defense exercise Defenders of Velayat Skies 1402, emphasized on Friday that the drills focus on defending sensitive centers of the Islamic country in a real combat and 360-degree defense situation.

The missile system is a medium-range air defense system capable of engaging against various targets, including reconnaissance aircraft, bombers, and tactical fighter jets with a range of up to 200 kilometers.

The air defense system is also capable of detecting and tracking six targets simultaneously, as well as destroying them with various indigenous missiles such as Sayyad 2 and 3.

The drills kicked off on Thursday with the involvement of the Air Defense Force of the Army, the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Navy of the IRGC, and divisions of the Army's ground forces under the command of the Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Air Defense Base in the country’s southwestern, southern and southeastern regions.
