Iran, China need to boost security cooperation: Police chief

Tehran, IRNA - Iran’s police chief Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan has underlined the importance of security and anti-terrorism cooperation between Iran and China.

During a Wednesday meeting with Chen Wenqing, the head of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party, China's leading body on national security and intelligence, Radan expressed gratitude over China's solidarity with Iran following the recent terror attack in southeastern city of Kerman, which left nearly 100 people dead.

“With the expansion of international developments, the necessity of developing security cooperation between the two countries is more crucial than ever. In light of this, the Iranian police are ready to expand cooperation to combat terrorism,” the police chief said.

He emphasized, “The Islamic Republic of Iran and the People's Republic of China must strive to eliminate terrorists.”

Radan further said the United States is exporting terrorism to every country that is developing, and warned that China and Russia are also under the threat of terrorism.

The police chief said Iran is prepared to share its expertise in security with China, which he hoped would be part of a systematic and practical plan for enhanced cooperation.

In response, Chen Wenqing acknowledged security challenges faced by the world today.

“In the Middle East, people are working for the progress of their countries while simultaneously dealing with destabilizing factors. These destabilizing factors are either directly or indirectly influenced by the United States,” he said.

“Therefore, we and you are facing common problems,” the Chinese official added.
