Mahmoudi said that despite the hard work of more than 300 professional rescuers and local forces, the rescue operation to find three mountain climbers in Oshnavieh of West Azarbaijan, three mountain climbers in Meshkin Shahr of East Azarbaijan and one more in in Tehran is still underway.
Some 120 rescuers were dispatched to find the three missing mountain climbers in Oshnavieh using a drone and metal detectors, but efforts have failed mainly due to heavy snow, Mahmoudi added.
Heavy snow and winds have closed roads in mountainous and rural regions in northwestern Iran in recent days.
