“Claims about the insecurity of the Red Sea are baseless and part of Washington's misleading propaganda. Hundreds of ships traverse the Bab el-Mandeb Strait every day,” Ansarullah spokesman Muhammad Abdul-Salam said on Tuesday, according to media reports.
Abdul-Salam reiterated that the Yemeni armed forces only prevent the passage of ships affiliated with the Zionist regime or bound for the occupied territories.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, citing a Yemeni military source, reported that another ship was targeted in the Red Sea.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) also announced receiving a report of a security incident 100 nautical miles northwest of Yemen's coastal village of As-Salif.
The Yemeni armed forces have been attacking ships linked to the Israeli regime or bound for Israeli ports as part of their campaign of supporting the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
