No evidence Iran ordered Ansarullah attacks: New York Times

Tehran, IRNA – There is no direct evidence that senior Iranian leaders ordered the recent attacks by Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement against the Zionist regime’s interests in the Red Sea, according to a report.

In an article published on Sunday, the New York Times quoted American intelligence officials as saying that Iran is not dictating the day-to-day operations of the Ansarullah movement, as it is typically claimed in the West.

“There is no direct evidence that senior Iranian leaders — either the commander of the elite Quds Force or the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — ordered the recent [Ansarullah] attacks on ships in the Red Sea,” the report said.

“But there is no question Iran has supported the [Ansarullah] actions, and the intelligence assessments contend that Iranian officials believe the escalating conflict will increase costs to the West — without risking a wider war,” it added.

Iran has consistently rejected Western allegations of involvement in the operations of regional resistance groups, including Hamas, Hezbollah and Ansarullah, since a conflict began in Palestine in early October.
