Yemeni media reported on Sunday night that the latest airstrikes hit areas in the western province of al-Hudaydah. There were no details on possible casualties or damage.
Washington and London launched joint airstrikes on Yemen early on Friday, saying that the action was in response to Yemen’s attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea.
Yemen said the Friday offensive targeted 73 sites in the capital Sana’a, around the port city of Hudaydah and three more regions. The Yemeni army also said that five of its forces had been killed in the “criminal aggression” and promised to take revenge.
Over the past weeks, the Yemeni army has been carrying out attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea in a show of support for the Palestinian people in Gaza where the regime has been pressing ahead with a deadly military campaign since October 7.
Yemen has made it clear that its attacks only target Israeli-linked vessels, and said after the Friday US-UK joint offensive that it would continue its Red Sea operations until the Israeli regime stops its crimes against the people of Gaza.
