--  Iran-Tajikistan trade triples: Lawmaker

The head of the Iran-Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship Group believes that despite the tripling of the bilateral trade in two years, the two countries are still far from the ideal in the field of developing economic relations.
Talking to Iran Daily, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi added that the volume of trade between the two countries will top $300 million by the end of the current Iranian year (March 19, 2024).
“During the first visit of President Ebrahim Raisi to Tajikistan, the presidents set an annual trade target of $500 million, which we hope will be realized within a period of one to two years,” the lawmaker said.

--  INSTC is pivot for realizing Iran’s sea-based economy goals: PMO

The director general of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) for Transit & Logistics Affairs said the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is the pivot for realizing the objectives of the country’s sea-based economy.
Khosro Saraei pointed to the special emphasis of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the sea-based economy and added that the high capacities of the corridor as well as its key role in facilitating regional and international trade will be assessed specifically in a conference on “Iran’s Sea-Based Economy,” slated to be held on February 12-13.

--  42nd Fajr International Film Festival unveils official lineup

The 42nd edition of the Fajr International Film Festival, Iran’s most important film event, announced its lineup for three sections Sodaye-Simorgh (the festival’s main competition section), New Perspective (first-time filmmakers) and Animations.
The announcement was made live on state TV by Mojtaba Amini, the event’s secretary, who said that the festival is set to showcase a diverse selection of films.

--  Iran Gives U.S. Deadline to Respond to Gen. Soleimani Case

Vice President for Legal Affairs Muhammad Dehghan said on Tuesday that Iran has given the United States a deadline to respond to an official complaint about its assassination of top IRGC commander General Qassem Soleimani before it will file the case with the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“If the U.S. does not respond by the end of Farvardin 1403 (March 19, 2024), we will register our complaint at the International Court of Justice in The Hague,” Dehghan said.

--  Iranian Shooting Team Wins Bronze Medal in Asian Championships

Iranian shooting mixed team grabbed a bronze medal in the 2024 Asian Shooting Championships underway in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Iranian team including Yalda Soleimani and Pouria Norouzian stood in third place by defeating Kazakh opponents 17-13 and won the bronze medal of the sporting event.
Another Iranian mixed team (Fatemeh Karamzadeh and Amir-Mohammad Nekunam) ranked 9th with 628 points.

--  ‘Playing With Starts’ to Debut on National TV

 In a noteworthy development for enthusiasts of Iranian home entertainment, a new production titled ‘Playing with Stars’ is scheduled to debut on screens soon.
The film, directed by Hatef Alimardani, will hit Iranian VOD screens starting from January 10, 2024, iFilm reported. ‘Playing with Stars’ is about post-immigration hardships, delving into the life challenges faced by a young and addicted girl.

--  Friendly: Iran victorious over Indonesia

 Iran national football team defeated Indonesia 5-0 on Tuesday in their last warm-up match ahead of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Saman Ghoddos, Rouzbeh Cheshmi, Shahriar Moghanlou and Mehdi Ghaedi (two goals) were on target for Iran in the match held in Doha, Qatar behind closed doors.

Team Melli will start the 2023 AFC Asian Cup on Sunday with a match against Palestine.

--  Iran’s slogan at 2023 AFC Asian Cup unveiled

The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) has unveiled the slogan of Team Melli in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. “To the end of life for Iran” is Iran’s slogan in the prestigious event.

Team Melli will start the campaign on Sunday with a match against Palestine. Iran will also meet Hong Kong and the UAE on Jan. 19 and 23, respectively. Iran, headed by Amir Ghalenoei, are going to bring an end to the title drought in the competition.

--  Construction of 200,000 National Housing Movement units begins in new towns

 As announced by the managing director of New Towns Development Company, the construction of 200,000 units of the National Housing Movement plan begun in the new towns.

Alireza Jafari also announced that 140,000 National Housing Movement units are currently under construction in the new towns across the country. As announced by the head of the National Land and Housing Organization, 1,000 units of the National Housing Movement have been completed across the country and are ready to be handed over to applicants.
