Link between Palestinian businessman, Mossad spies revealed

Tehran, IRNA – The Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah has revealed that Palestinian businessperson Mohammed Yusuf Dahlan, a defected member of the Fatah movement, had connections with some elements of the Israeli regime’s spy agency Mossad in Turkiye.

According to Daily Sabah, Dahlan who lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and has close ties with the Abu Dhabi government, was tasked by Mossad to target foreign figures in Turkiye.

The newspaper also wrote that Turkish police and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had detained 34 people in eight provinces as part of the latest investigation into Mossad’s plot in the country.

On Thursday, Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc revealed the country also confiscated over 143,000 euros ($157,300) and over $23,000 from the suspects along with one pistol and a large amount of munitions. The Turkish authorities are still tracing 12 other fugitives.

Dahlan himself is wanted by Ankara for his links to the Gulenist terror group and his role in the July 2016 coup attempt.

The businessman, who was born in 1961 in the Gaza Strip, was expelled from the Fatah movement in 2011 over an attempt to poison then-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. A year later, a nine-month investigation revealed that traces of radioactive polonium poison were found on the deceased Arafat's belongings.

France's leading newsweekly magazine L'EXPRESS has also revealed that Dahlan, who served for a while as head of the intelligence apparatus of the Palestinian National Authority, is now one of the security advisors to the UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and helps Abu Dhabi enhance its influence in the region.

In an interview with The Economist, Dahlan called for installing a transitional government presided by technocrats in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
