The Yemen Parliament made the statement on Saturday after the US, which has over the past weeks been spearheading a maritime coalition in the Red Sea under the pretext of safeguarding the transit of vessels in the area, claimed that the Yemeni forces and the popular resistance movement were targeting international ships and jeopardizing the security of the Red Sea.
Yemen rejects the wrong and fabricated details that existed in the statement of the American coalition, noting that the truth of the developments in the Red Sea is contrary to what the American statement said, the Al-Mayadeen news network reported.
The Yemeni parliament noted that Yemen condemns the continuation of the policy of double standard and selective implementation of international and humanitarian law in the interests of the Zionist regime.
Referring to the existence of safety for vessels, except those heading to Israeli ports until the end of the Zionist regime’s genocide in the Gaza enclave, the statement reiterated that Yemen and its armed forces once again reaffirm the right to protect its sovereignty and support the Palestinians.
The Yemeni parliament went on to say that Yemen considers the US coalition responsible for the crimes of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.
Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.
Yemeni armed forces have in the past weeks conducted attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea in retaliation for the regime’s crimes in Gaza. The armed forces say the attacks will continue until the regime stops its crimes and allows food and medicine into Gaza. The US has formed an international coalition to confront the Yemeni attacks.
