US-led coalition in Red Sea lacking legitimacy: Ansarullah

Tehran, IRNA - Yemen's Ansarullah movement has pointed to the confusion of states forced to join the US-led maritime coalition in the Red Sea, noting that the confusion has its roots in a lack of legitimacy.

According to Elnashra electronic newspaper, spokesperson for the Ansarullah movement Mohammed Abdul-Salam declared that international waterways are safe and stable and that hundreds of vessels pass through the Red Sea on a daily basis.

Certain states’ confusion comes from the belief that these countries have been pushed by the United States to join the maritime coalition and they are aware that the coalition is not legitimate, he said.

He went on to say that the Yemeni Navy communicates regularly with all vessels, but the US is attempting to provoke some countries to join this coalition with the aim of protecting the Israeli regime; however, Yemen is in contact with countries that have confirmed they do not join the coalition, and some countries have also informed Sanaa that their presence in the coalition is limited to dispatching officers.

The officials of Yemen's armed forces held talks on the combat readiness of ground, naval, and air units of the Arab country in the face of any threat.

Yemen's Defense Minister Mohamed al-Atifi stated that the Yemenis are ready to inflict the hardest blows upon the enemies if they continue their crimes and siege against the Palestinian people or intend to threaten the security and sovereignty of Yemen.
