Iran, China discuss expanding anti-terrorism cooperation

Tehran, IRNA - The Iranian ambassador to China and the Chinese assistant foreign minister have discussed the imperative of expanding anti-terrorism cooperation between the two countries.

In a post on social media on Wednesday, Ambassador Mohsen Bakhtiyar said during the meeting with Nong Rong they emphasized the need for Iran and China to expand anti-terrorism cooperation.

He said the two sides also discussed ways to address the root causes of insecurity through the Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative, and Global Security Initiative.

The Iranian ambassador expressed Tehran's willingness to strengthen its security and anti-terrorism cooperation with Beijing.

In response, the Chinese diplomat stated that Beijing is also keen to develop security cooperation with Iran within the framework of the Global Security Initiative.

In March 2021, Iran and China signed a 25-year strategic cooperation agreement to expand cooperation across various sectors.
