--  Iran’s nine-month trade up 7%: Minister

Iran’s foreign trade registered a seven percent growth in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2023), announced the minister of economic affairs and finance.
The country’s foreign trade value, from March 21 to December 22, 2023, hit $112 billion, showing a seven percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, Ehsan Khandouzi said.

The country’s foreign trade value, from March 21 to December 22, 2023, hit $112 billion, showing a seven percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, Ehsan Khandouzi said.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) calculated the monthly foreign trade report with the inclusion of the exports of oil, electricity, technical and engineering services for the first time.

--  Middle East’s first geothermal power plant to be launched in Iran

The first geothermal power plant in the Middle East, with the generation capacity of five megawatts, will be put into operation in Meshginshahr, Iran’s northwestern province of Ardebil, in the near future, the project commissioner of the Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH) said.
This power plant is under construction as a pilot project installed on a reservoir of geothermal energy with a generation capacity of about 250 megawatts of electricity, Behnam Khaefinejad stated.

-- Iranian Youths Enlist in ‘Hero’s Journey’ Art Contest

A national art program titled the “Hero’s Journey” has started with the participation of teenagers from across Iran in a workshop to train them on motion, comic strip, impersonation and screen reading.
The event aims to develop and nurture revolutionary artists and guide them in the path of growth and production with a focus on the culture of heroism and heroic characters and create a suitable platform for improvement of products in the fields of stop motion, comic strips, cartoons and screen reading.

--  Iran’s Security Chief: U.S., Zionists ‘Two-Way Losers’ of Gaza War

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian on Tuesday in a meeting with former Iraqi prime minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said that the United States and Zionists are both suffering a “two-sided” defeat in the ongoing war on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as they can neither stop the aggression nor continue it in the besieged territory.
Stressing that the U.S. and the Zionists are both in a state of defeat from two aspects, Ahmadian said, “This regime loses if it continues the war, and will lose again if it is forced to stop it. Whether the U.S. leaves the region or not and whether it will expand the war or not, it is a loser in both cases.”

--  Iran’s  Baghdad Embassy  Unscathed by Fire

A fire that broke out off the premises of the embassy of Iran in Baghdad on Tuesday morning has not caused any damage to the embassy building, a Foreign Ministry official said.

Iraqi media outlets reported on Tuesday that a CONEX box used by security guards, located off the premises of the Iranian embassy in Al Salhiah neighborhood of Baghdad, caught fire in the morning.

-- Sepahan, Persepolis get their points deduction revoked

 Persepolis and Sepahan football teams had their deducted points returned by the Iran Football Federation’s Appeal Committee. The ongoing 2023/24 Persian Gulf Pro League (PGPL) season is now more intense, particularly in the title race.

The Football Federation's Disciplinary Committee deducted four points from Sepahan four months ago for financial violations in players’ contracts. In October, they also deducted one point from Persepolis for tax violation issues, but the Appeal Committee has now overturned it.

--  Iranian filmmakers illuminate Gaza's struggle by making shorts

 Iranian filmmakers have created four short films to highlight the resistance and difficult conditions faced by the people of Gaza.  Produced by the Sureh Youth Film Center, these films aim to raise awareness about the situation and shed light on the struggles experienced by the people in Gaza, ISNA reported on Tuesday. 

One of these films, titled "Embrace," directed by Amirhossein Kashmiri and produced by Hossein Rezaifar, has undergone technical stages and is now ready to be screened, the report added.

--  AFC President extends condolences on passing of Melika Mohammadi

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has expressed his deep sadness and shock after receiving the news of the untimely demise of Iran women's national team player Melika Mohammadi. Mohammadi, 23, died in a tragic road accident in Bam, Kerman province Saturday night.

Extending his condolences and sympathies, the AFC President said: “On behalf of the Asian football family, I would like to convey my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms Melika Mohammadi. Her contributions as a key player of the Islamic Republic of Iran's women's national team will be long remembered. We join the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran in mourning this great loss."
