On the occasion of the 2024 New Year and the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and given the positive impact of inmates’ reunion with their families, in a directive issued on Tuesday to judicial units and prosecutors across the country, Mohseni-Ejei said that all eligible Christian convicts who are currently in prison or on furlough should be granted the 10-day leave.
However, the convicts of espionage and acting against the country's national security who have been handed down jail terms longer than three years will not be granted furlough.
Also, the furlough does not include those inmates who were jailed for gang-related and organized crimes, disruption of the country's economic system, all crimes related to robbery, and kidnapping, plus those sentenced to capital punishment.
