** IRAN DAILY

--  Iran to set record in building power stations by March

The Iranian Energy Ministry on Monday unveiled a plan for the construction of 95 renewable power plants in a ceremony attended by President Ebrahim Raisi. The plan is aimed at removing the imbalance of electricity and power outages, according to IRNA.
The total amount of electricity generated by the power plants (11,000 megawatts) will be 11 times that of the electricity generated at the Bushehr Power Plant. In his address to officials of the Energy Ministry, Raisi said, “In addition to paying attention to improving productivity, paying serious attention to energy generation from renewable sources is another important point as we witnessed the start of the implementation of wind and solar power projects.”

--  China’s exceptional economy means a rosy future

China’s economy is “exceptional” owing to its history, culture and policymaking, said a senior Iranian business leader in a recent interview with Xinhua.
“China’s exceptional economy is neither like what happens in Europe and the United States nor in developing countries,” said Majidreza Hariri, president of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries, noting that this distinction is attributed to the country’s history and culture, coupled with its flexible decision-making and policy implementation system, which makes the country “more flexible in the face of crises”.

--  Iran signs free trade pact with EAEU

Iran and the member states of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Armenia, signed a free trade agreement (FTA) in a ceremony in St. Petersburg on Monday.
Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Abbas Aliabadi signed the agreement, which is the result of over two years of negotiations, on behalf of Iran, IRNA reported. On behalf of the EAEU, the deputy prime ministers of the member countries signed the agreement.

-- Iran: U.S. Claim of Targeting Tanker Off India ‘Baseless’

Iran Monday rejected a U.S. claim that a drone launched from Iran targeted a tanker off the coast of India last week. Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani responded to a question about the incident by calling the U.S. claim “baseless.”
The Pentagon claimed with any evidence Saturday that “a one-way attack drone fired from Iran” struck the Liberia-flagged, Japanese-owned and Netherlands-operated Chem Pluto.

--  Afghan FM  Told to Take  Practical Measures to Resolve Issues  

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian says Afghanistan should take “practical” actions to resolve the existing issues between the two countries, including border security and water share.

In a meeting with Taliban’s caretaker foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi here, Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran and Kabul have important relations in various aspects and expressed hope that Afghanistan’s acting Taliban government would cooperate in practice to resolve some existing problems.

--  WB: Iranians’ Per Capita Income Grows 3% in 2022

The World Bank (WB) said that the national per capita income of Iranians registered a three percent growth in 2022, adding that Iran ranked 61st among 123 countries in the world in this respect.
In its latest statistics on the national per capita income of people in 123 countries, the World Bank said Iranians’ per capita income considerably improved last year.The international body put the per capita income of the Iranian people in the reported period at $5.499.

--  Zob Ahan edge Sanat Naft: PGPL

 Zob Ahan football team edged past Sanat Naft 1-0 in the 2023/24 Iran’s Persian Gulf Pro League (PGPL) on Monday. Mohammadjavad Mohammadi scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute in Abadan.

In Bandar Anzali, Malavan and Tractor played out a goalless draw. Tractor moved up to third place with 25 points, four points adrift of leaders Esteghlal.

--  Over 530 earthquakes occur in a month

A total of 536 earthquakes have been recorded across the country over the past calendar month that ended on December 21, according to the Seismological networks of the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Tehran.

It shows a decrease of 27.6 percent, 6.1 percent, and 45.5 percent compared to last month, the same month last year, and the monthly average of the last ten years, respectively.
