Iran, Afghanistan stressed expansion of cooperation in border security and economy areas: Official

Tehran, IRNA - Special representative of the President of Iran in Afghanistan said that Tehran and Kabul officials met in Tehran on Sunday and emphasized on more cooperation in the field of border security.

Hasan Kazemi Qomi wrote in his user account on X social network (former Twitter) after the visit of Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taliban government in Tehran that in this meeting, commercial and economic cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan was also emphasized

"Supporting regional initiatives and the formation of a regional contact group and its role in facilitating Kabul's relations with the countries of the region and paying attention to the legitimate concerns and demands of the countries surrounding Afghanistan were among the other topics of the meeting," he added.

Kazemi Qomi went on to say that judicial assistance cooperation and strengthening of bilateral relations, especially in the jurisdictions, were welcomed and emphasized.

At the same time, both sides called for more coordination and cooperation in the field of border security. 

"We informed the Afghan side about the clear position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the necessity of regular meetings of joint commissions," he added.
