Iran president urges Pakistan to strengthen border security

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has called on his Pakistani counterpart Arif ur Rehman Alvi to make more efforts to strengthen security in joint border areas.

In a phone conversation with Pakistan's president, the Iranian chief executive pointed to the recent terrorist attack on a police headquarters in Rask County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province of Iran, which left 11 martyrs and 8 wounded, and called for more endeavors to ensure border security.

President Raisi also referred to the abundant capacities of Tehran and Islamabad to expand cooperation, in particular in the energy sector, expressing hope that officials of both nations would be able to activate available capacities.

As to the continuation of the Israeli regime’s war crimes and genocide in the Gaza Strip, he criticized the incompetency of the international organizations to stop the atrocities and urged the Islamic states to adopt coordinated action with the aim of putting pressure on the regime to halt massacre of innocent Palestinians in the besieged area.

The Pakistani president, for his part, pointed out to the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in defending and supporting the oppressed nation of Palestine, saying that coordinated efforts by the Islamic nations can impose extra pressure on the Israeli regime to stop atrocities in Gaza.

Alvi also expressed condolences on the martyrdom of Iranian police officers during the Rask terrorist attack, noting that his government will make all-out efforts to strengthen security in joint borders and prevent activities of terrorist groups in border areas.
