Israeli-based ships to be banned from anchoring at Malaysia waters

Tehran -- Malaysia has said that it will not let the Israel-based integrated shipping services ZIM be berthed at any of its ports, media outlets reported.

According to a report by Canadian English language channel BNN Blomberg on Wednesday, Malaysia’s move signals “rising frustration” over the war in Gaza.

Malaysia blocks ships that bear the Israeli regime’s flags, and will also prevent vessels which are destined for Israel from its ports, the BNN Bloomberg quoted Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as saying in a statement.

“These sanctions are a response to Israel’s actions ignoring the basic principles of humanity and breaking the international law through continued massacres and atrocities against Palestinians,” Anwar said according to the report.

Malaysia is among the major supporters of the Palestinians as Anwar promised last months to keep its ties with the Palestinian Resistance movement, Hamas, despite the pressure put by the United States.

Based on the report, the Zionist regime’s economy relies on seaborne trade, and Malaysia had already welcomed ZIM’s vessels since 2002; meanwhile, as Anwar said the change in the country’s decision will not put obstacles to the trade activities of Malaysia.

Nearly 20,000 Palestinians including thousands of women and children have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of war there on October 7.
