At least 11 Iranian police officers have been martyred in an attack on a police station in the southeastern border province of Sistan-Balouchestan.
Deputy Governor-General of Sistan and Balouchestan province, Alireza Marhamati said on Friday that senior police officers and soldiers were martyred and injured at the 2 a.m. on Friday (22:30 GMT Thursday) attack in the town of Rask, about 1,400 km (875 miles) southwest of the capital, Tehran.
The Jaish e Adl group, which has an active presence in the province bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan, reportedly claimed responsibility for the overnight attack.
In a message on Friday, Qalibaf extended condolences to the Iranian nation and the families of the martyrs.
He further urged the security and police forces to adopt all necessary measures for arresting and bringing to justice the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
