Mohammad Eslami made the announcement during a visit to Isfahan University of Medical Sciences on Wednesday.
He stated that the rise in the production of radiopharmaceuticals would be a huge step in assisting patients in the country.
Eslami pointed out that three new radiopharmaceuticals were unveiled on Tuesday, bringing the total number of different types of such drugs produced in Iran to 50.
Currently, around 210 medical and treatment centers across the country benefit from the services and products provided by the AEOI, covering approximately one million patients annually, he added.
“In the therapeutic sector, we intend to increase effectiveness, and in the diagnostic aspect of radiopharmaceuticals, enhancing precision can provide physicians with higher clarity of problems and lesions for better tumor diagnosis,” the nuclear chief said.
Eslami maintained that Iran has made substantial advancements in this field despite being under sanctions, citing Pars Isotope Center – a major supplier of supplier of radioisotopes in the country- as a model example.
