Mohammad Eslami made the remarks on Wednesday at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation between Mobarakeh Steel Company and the Iranian National Center for Laser Science and Technology regarding the reconstruction and renovation of laser equipment.
Eslami emphasized that Iran enjoys the legal right to investigate issues and then approve or reject them. The Islamic Republic did not receive any inspection request to decide whether to grant or deny access to the country.
Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, claimed in November that Iran hampered inspectors’ mission, an allegation, which was categorically ruled out by Iranian officials.
Eslami maintained that the Islamic Republic abides by its commitment under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), adding that the country's nuclear activities are conducted within the framework of a 2020 Iranian parliamentary law, dubbed the Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions.
The law mandates the Iranian government to counter the effects of sanctions imposed on the country after the United States unilaterally abandoned the nuclear deal in 2018.
However, the Iranian authorities have time and again underscored that the country is ready to hold negotiations to pave the ground for resuming its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in return for lifting all sanctions mentioned in the 2015 nuclear deal.
