“The dispatch of an Israeli warship [to the Red Sea] has a media purpose only,” Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said, according to the Palestinian Sama news agency.
“We have painful leverages against the countries that may participate in the international coalition in the Red Sea waters,” he said.
The warning came after the Yemeni Armed Forces claimed responsibility for a missile strike on a Norwegian-flagged tanker in the Red Sea as it was heading towards an Israeli port.
Yemen has announced that it will block all ships passing the Red Sea from reaching the Israeli-occupied territories, a move the Sana’a government says is in support of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation’s war on Gaza.
On Saturday, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said if Gaza does not receive the food and medicines it needs, all ships moving toward the occupied territories would turn into a “legitimate target.”
The relentless Israeli bombardment of Gaza has killed at least 18,412 people, most of them women and children. Another 50,100 people have been wounded as well.
