-- Iran talks with 20 countries to foster air transport cooperation: CAO
The head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) said negotiations were conducted with 20 countries on the development of air transportation cooperation on the sidelines of the 15th ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2023) which was held on December 3-7.
Speaking on the occasion of commemorating International Civil Aviation Day, Mohammad Mohammadi-Bakhsh pointed to organizing the ICAN2023 in Saudi Arabia and said the talks were held on the development of the flight network.
-- Iran, Cuba agree on joint production of meningitis vaccine: Official
Iran has established collaborations with Cuba in various fields, including the biotechnology field, as the two countries have agreed to cooperate in the joint production of a meningitis vaccine, announced an aide to Iran’s foreign minister.
Issa Kameli, who is also the director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of the Americas, told ISNA on Sunday that there is a bright perspective in the relations between Iran and Latin America, as Tehran has a strong will to expand ties with LatAm states based on common interests.
-- Huge fire erupts at refinery; reservoirs explode in East Iran
A huge fire broke out on Sunday morning at an oil refinery in the eastern Iranian province of South Khorasan, leading to the simultaneous explosion of several gas condensate reservoirs, Tasnim news agency reported.
The fire started at one of the reservoirs of the refinery, which is located in Birjand Special Economic Zone, at 8:45 a.m. local time (0515 GMT), the report said.

-- Senegal, Iran Discuss Scientific Cooperation
Deputy President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy Ruhollah Firouzabadi Dehghani says Iran attaches great importance to Africa and the opportunities for cooperation in the continent.
In a meeting with Cheikh Kante, the special envoy to Senegal’s president of Senegal, Dehghani touched on religious and political closeness between Iran and Senegal, saying Tehran is willing to activate scientific cooperation with Dakar. Senegal will have a bright future, the official added.
-- Iran Ranks World’s 15th in Scientific Production
Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Peyman Salehi says Iran is ranked 15th in the world in scientific production as the country marked the first day of the National Research Week.
“About 26 to 27 years ago, our global ranking with 851 scientific productions was 54th in the world, but in 2022, it rose to 15th with more than 78,000 scientific productions,” he said.
-- IME Weekly Trade Exceeds $650mn
The Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) has reported that over 3,053,794 tonnes of commodities with a total trading value of more than $650 million were traded on its physical market in last week.
IME’s report said that on its metal and mineral trading floor, over 2,519,824 tonnes of commodities including, 1,310,765 tonnes of cement, 647,000 tonnes of iron ore, 438,984 tonnes of steel, 119,000 tonnes of sponge iron, 7,750 tonnes of copper, 7,890 tonnes of aluminum, 365 tonnes of zinc, 200 tonnes of molybdenum concentrate, 75 tonnes of lead and 45 tonnes of precious metals concentrate with total value of $426 million were traded in the last week.

-- Four swimmers to represent Iran at 2023 Vladimir Salnikov Cup
Iran young swimming federation will send four swimmers to the 2023 Vladimir Salnikov Cup. The tournament will be held from Dec. 16 to 18 at the Water Sports Center Nevskaya Volna Swimming Pool in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Ali Rashidpour, Arad Mehdizadeh, Mohammad Ghasemi, and Alireza Arab will participate in the competition. The four-member team will be headed by Khashayar Hazrati in the event.

The Qatari delegation, that has traveled to Iran to attend the ninth meeting of the Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Committee, visited an exhibition of Iranian products on Sunday. The Qatari delegates got familiar with the Iranian producers’ capabilities in the mentioned exhibition, which is being held on the sidelines of the joint committee meeting.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the ninth Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Committee meeting in Tehran on Saturday, the head of the International Affairs Department of the Iranian Energy Ministry, said Tehran and Doha are determined to increase the two countries’ annual trade to $1.0 billion.
