Kata’ib Hezbollah: US embassy in Baghdad ‘den of espionage’

Tehran, IRNA – A senior security official with Kata’ib Hezbollah of Iraq has described the United States’ embassy in the Iraqi capital Baghdad as a den of espionage for directing military and security operations in the Arab country.

Abu Ali Al-Askari underlined in a statement that the US embassy in Baghdad is still an advanced base for leading military and security operations against the Iraqi nation, IRNA reported on Sunday.

The Iraqi security official noted that even though this embassy is a den of spies, some Iraqi figures see their honor in compromising against the US and claim that it is a diplomatic mission, which should be protected. Shame on such people and their interests that are detrimental to their own country, he criticized, arguing that these individuals resort to the strategy of bowing down to maintain their positions; but in fact, such positions will vanish following the annihilation of the occupying powers.

After the United States targeted an Iraqi resistance headquarters, which led to the martyrdom of eight Iraqi fighters, the area around Baghdad's green zone and the American embassy have recently been targeted by rocket attacks.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq earlier attacked US positions in Iraq and Syria with the use of drones and missiles.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that these strikes were carried out in response to the crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the United States’ all-out support for the occupying regime.
