Palestinian envoy to UN: Security Council will vote on resolution of Arab and Islamic countries for immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

New York, IRNA - The Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations announced that the UN Security Council will vote on the draft resolution submitted by the Arab and Islamic countries regarding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Friday.

The ambassador and permanent representative of Palestine to the UN said that the draft resolution before being presented to the members for revision was presented to prepare for a vote tomorrow.

Riyad Mansour continued that invoking Article 99 of the UN Charter is the right thing to do.

The UN Secretary-General's decision to invoke Article 99 to compel the Security Council to address the situation in Gaza is "the right thing to do".

Mansour told reporters that it was a "brave stance" by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and showed how "dangerous" the situation in Gaza is.

Referring to the draft resolution that is expected to be discussed on Friday, Mansour told reporters that "we sincerely hope that the UN Security Council will approve this [resolution]."

According to IRNA's reporter, the United Arab Emirates has submitted a short draft resolution to the Council, which calls for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire".

Iran's ambassador to  the UN also said in its account on the X network that the delay of the Security Council in implementing a binding ceasefire for Gaza kills at least 250 innocent people every day.

Immediate action to stop the ongoing genocide in Palestine should not be discussed, rather it should be a mandatory priority.
