During the meeting, Ali Naderi, the CEO of IRNA, pointed out the importance of contact and exchange of views between the two news agencies, and emphasized that IRNA can be a reliable source for first-hand news of Iran due to its wide network of reporters and photographers throughout Iran, rather than the publication of contrary news.
Naderi also suggested that the two sides find areas for cooperation, which was welcomed by Sue Brooks, the chief executive officer of Reuters.
Brooks said that he will put the issue of developing relations and exchange of views with IRNA on the agenda.
The two sides also agreed on a framework for following up on the decisions made in this meeting.
Also, according to Xinhua news agency, Sue Brooks, chief executive officer of Reuters news agency, met with the CEO of Xinhua on the sidelines of the World Media Summit.
In this meeting, the two sides called for cooperation within the framework of the media summit to improve the position of news agencies in the digital age.
The fifth summit of world media executives is being held in Guangzhou, China.
This event was held in 2009 at the initiative of a number of international media, including Associated Press, Reuters, Xinhua, TASS, Kyodo, etc.
