Major General Bagheri met and held talks with Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet Mohammed al-Abbasi in Baghdad on Sunday.
Describing Iraq as a country with high priority in the foreign and defense policies for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Major General Bagheri said that the views and positions of the government, nation, and authority on significant regional and international issues are very important and its clear example is the two countries' close stances on the Gaza war and the issue of Palestine.
Referring to the conditions of the two countries and the region and the importance of enhancing security defense ties and cooperation between Iran and Iraq, he underlined that the cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries is still far from the desired level, despite many existing fields of cooperation and potentials, and the two countries need to use such potentials.
Major General Bagheri described the experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces in tactical, strategic, and technical fields as very valuable, saying that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are ready to transfer their knowledge, experience, and capabilities to the Iraqi armed forces.
Major General Bagheri also announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces to conduct a bilateral or multilateral naval rescue exercise in the Persian Gulf.
Mohammed al-Abbasi, for his part, said that Iraqi people, with different political views, believe in the divine's promise and they will stand by the Palestinian nation.
Al-Abbasi further stated, "During my trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran and visiting the capabilities and defense equipment, I witnessed the growing trend of Iran's defense industry."
