Iranian Paralympic medalist says Supreme Leader’s gratitude was her biggest prize

Tehran, IRNA – Sare Javanmardi, who is Iran's first female medalist of the Paralympics history, has said that the gratitude of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was the biggest prize for her.

After winning the silver medal of shooting competitions of the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, Javanmardi went to the podium with her three-month-old baby.

The Supreme Leader hailed her move as significant for the role of women and motherhood.

“These statements are lasting for me and above any reward,” Javanmardi said.

Javanmardi won the gold medal of 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, breaking the world record.

She has also received gold medal of 2016 Paralympics in Rio and bronze medal of 2012 Paralympics in London.

After a 2017 strong earthquake in western Iran, Javanmardi auctioned her Rio Paralympic gold medal to help the quake-stricken people.
