'Freedom Flotilla' of 1,000 boats aims to break Israeli blockade on Gaza

Tehran, IRNA – A "Freedom Flotilla" of some 1,000 pro-Palestine boats filled with activists opposed to the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza will sail toward the enclave in the coming days to try to break an Israeli blockade that has left more than 2.3 million people in a dire humanitarian situation.

Turkish media said on Tuesday that most of the members of the "Freedom Flotilla" are from Western countries and want to announce to the Israeli regime that it should end its atrocities in Gaza.

The protest action is reminiscent of the attempt by the so-called “Gaza Freedom Flotilla” in May 2010 which tried to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, but was attacked by the Zionist regime’s navy, leading to nine deaths among Turkish citizens.

Tel Aviv waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for intensified Israeli crimes against Palestinians.

According to authorities in Gaza, more than 14,000 Palestinians, including over 5,600 children and 3,550 women, have been killed and over 30,000 others injured in the Israeli attacks on the enclave over the past weeks.
