Oil and gas is the best sector for investment in Iran, said President Ebrahim Raisi during a visit to the Oil Ministry on Monday as he was briefed about the oil industry’s plans for the current Iranian year (started March 21).
“The increase in oil production and exports, despite sanctions, is a great achievement for the incumbent government since it came to office two years ago,” he was quoted as saying by Shana.

China reaffirmed its support on Monday for new countries joining the BRICS grouping of developing nations, even as Argentina’s likely next foreign minister was quoted as saying that her country would no longer do so. Argentina was among six countries invited to become a new member of BRICS at a summit held in South Africa in August, part of the grouping’s push to reshuffle a Western-dominated world order it sees as outdated.

-- Iranian Researchers Develop Rapid Cancer Test Kit
Researchers in Iran have successfully developed a cost-effective colorectal cancer screening rapid test kit.
The kit, produced by the Sanje Bio Diagnostic Company, is a significant breakthrough in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer, which is the third most deadly cancer worldwide, said the managing director of the company.
Hadi Baqeri revealed that the development of the kit began after sanctions led to the cessation of exports of a similar German product to Iran four years ago.
-- Iran, China Finalizing $2bn Investment for Developing IKIA
The head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Muhammad Muhammadibakhsh said a $2-billion investment by Iran and China as a joint venture (JV) for the development of phase II of the Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) will be finalized soon.
The Chinese side is also going to export raw materials to Iran needed for manufacturing plane parts and equipment, Muhammadibakhsh said. The joint investment by Iran and China for the development of Phase II of Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) will be finalized in the current week, he added.

Manager of the Public Relations Department of the Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) for International Affairs Hanieh Bakhshaei said on Monday that Tehran will host the fourth meeting of experts of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)’s member states on November 26-29 in order to investigate the reduction of risk of disaster in the region.
Sharing new ideas and views on solving the problems of geological hazards with a special emphasis on the phenomenon of subsidence and earthquakes in the region are among the most important goals of the meeting, she mentioned.

-- Iran’s wheat production rises 6% in 2023: report
Wheat production in Iran has increased by six percent in 2023, putting the Islamic Republic in 14th place among the world’s top producers of the strategic grain, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s World Agricultural Production report.
Based on the said report, Iranian farmers managed to produce 14 million tons of wheat in the 2023 crop year, 800,000 tons more than the figure for the previous year in which the total production stood at 13.2 million tons. According to USDA, Iran was the world’s 13th largest wheat producer in 2022.
