Iraq's Kata'ib Hezbollah dismisses US sanctions as insignificant

Tehran, IRNA - Abu Ali al-Askari, a senior security official with Kata'ib Hezbollah of Iraq, has termed the US sanctions on the group as ridiculous while emphasizing that these measures will not affect their operations targeting American forces in the Arab country.

According to Arabic daily Rai-al-Youm report cited by the IRNA on Sunday, Abu Ali al-Askari stressed that delivering measured blows to the Islamic resistance of Iraq against the enemies and inflicting casualties on them and destroying weapons, confusing it is in line with attrition strategy.

The U.S. Treasury Department claimed on Friday that the Kataib Hezbollah based in Iraq, which is trained, financed and supported by the IRGC Quds Force, is behind a wave of recent attacks against the United States and its partners in Iraq and Syria after the terrible attacks of Hamas against Israel.

It has also said that the US Department of State also sanctioned the group of Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada and its leader.

US military bases in Iraq and Syria have been targeted by drone, rocket and missile attacks since October 17.

The Iraqi Islamic Resistance warned the United States that it would target the American bases in the region following the Israeli regime's acts in retaliation for the Al-Aqsa storm operation that bombards the Gaza Strip and Washington's support for these attacks.
