Iranians hold nationwide rallies in solidarity with Palestinians

Tehran, IRNA- Iranians have held nationwide rallies in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people and to condemn the Israeli regime’s genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.

People in the capital, Tehran, took to the streets in their thousands on Saturday to express solidarity with the resilient people of Gaza, who have been suffering a relentless bombing campaign and a total siege by the Israeli regime for more than 40 days.

They descended on the Enghelab (Revolution) Square in central Tehran, waving Iranian and Palestinian flags.

The demonstrators voiced their unwavering support for the oppressed people of Palestine in the face of the ongoing Israeli atrocities.

Addressing the crowd in Tehran, Major General Hossein Salami, the chief commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), hailed the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation, launched by Hamas on October 7, as the most “exceptional” surprising operation against the Zionist enemy since its illegal inception.

General Salami said the Hamas operation was a reaction to the century-long oppressions inflicted by Britain, the United States, France, and the Zionist regime on the Palestinian people, who have endured 75 years of expulsion and displacement from the lands.

“What is important is that the Palestinians have never accepted to be subservient to the policies of the United States and the Zionist regime,” he declared.

He pointed out that the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation shattered the Zionist illusion of their dominance over the Palestinians.

People in other provinces, including Golestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars and Zanjan also held pro-Palestinian rallies on Saturday.

In Golestan, protesters chanted “death to America” and “death to Israel”, and carried placards bearing messages in support of the Palestinian people.

Demonstrators in Zanjan chanted similar slogans and condemned the Israeli regime for massacring Palestinian women and children in Gaza.

At least 12,000 Palestinians, including more than 5,000 children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, when the Israeli regime launched a massive war of aggression against the blockaded Palestinian territory.
