“There is no indication of hostages currently being held in Shifa,” Israeli Army Radio reported on Wednesday after Israeli forces stormed the hospital sheltering thousands of Palestinian civilians in defiance of a global outcry against attacks on medical facilities.
A correspondent for the Al-Araby TV channel reported from Tel Aviv that this acknowledgment by the Israeli army marks the “biggest intelligence failure” of the occupying regime since it launched the devastating war against Gaza on October 7.
He added that Israel has also claimed that leaders of the Hamas resistance movement are hiding inside the al-Shifa hospital, which has repeatedly come under attacks in recent weeks.
The search operation in the hospital is ongoing, and so far, no tunnel has been discovered, the reporter said. “The extensive tunnel network that the Israeli army spoke of has not been found as of yet, we are talking about the biggest intelligence failure for Israel since the start of this war.”
Israeli officials have said that at least 239 Israelis, both military personnel and civilians, are being held captive by Hamas since the group launched a surprise blitz into the occupied territories near the Gaza Strip on October 7.
