Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov met in Tehran on Wednesday where the Russian official spoke about the measures taken by the BRICS bloc of developing countries over the past years.
Noting that Russia will assume rotating presidency of BRICS as of January 2024, Ryabkov briefed his country’s priorities during the new tenure.
He also congratulated Iran for being accepted as a new BRICS member.
The Iranian official, for his part, hailed the widespread activities of BRICS, noting that the Iranian foreign ministry will do its best to play a significant role in the bloc.
The two officials and the accompanying delegations reviewed BRICS activities in different economic, financial, energy, transportation, parliamentary, agricultural, health, information, environmental and sports areas, as well as in modern technologies, aerospace and scientific fields.
