London’s Metropolitan police said in a statement on Saturday that they had arrested around 150 people from the pro-Palestinian demonstration in Grosvenor Place, Belgravia.
The group were firing fireworks and many were wearing face coverings, the police claimed, adding that officers were using their Section 60 and 60AA powers to detain and search those involved.
Meanwhile, the police also said that they had arrested 126 people, the majority of whom, it said, were right-wing protesters who were seeking to confront the main march.
According to the police, more than 300,000 had attended the demonstration, with protesters chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
They also carried banners reading “Stop Bombing Gaza”, “Stop the Massacre”, and “Free Palestine”.
