Iran, Tajikistan parliaments playing key part in bilateral cooperation: Raisi

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that Iran and Tajikistan are determined to expand relations in all fields, with parliaments of the two countries playing a key part in implementing joint agreements.

President Raisi made the comment in a meeting with Mohammad Taher Zakerzadeh, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Tajikistan in Tashkent on Wednesday.

Raisi said that the two countries are determined to develop their ties, and called for stepping up efforts to use the existing capacities to achieve that goal.

Tajikistan’s speaker said on his part that the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, which protects the interests of both nations, is useful for the two sides.

He also referred to Iran’s and Tajikistan’s membership in regional organizations such as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), describing it as an opportunity which the two countries should use to achieve further economic growth.

The Iranian president arrived in Tajikistan earlier on Wednesday on the first leg of a regional tour that also takes him to Uzbekistan. Raisi has also met with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.
