Iran, Tajikistan call for bolstering mutual ties

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon have urged expanding mutual ties in various fields between the two countries.

President Raisi made the remarks at a press conference with his Tajik counterpart in Tashkent on Wednesday, noting that "today, the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite threats and sanctions, has made great progress in various fields, especially in the field of science and technology".

Referring to the existing capacities and experiences in the fields of energy, agriculture, industry, and mines, Raisi expressed Iran's readiness to share the experiences with Tajikistan.

Iran and Tajikistan have cultural commonalities so they can have a lot of cooperation, he said, noting that it was decided that the two sides take serious steps towards developing Persian culture and language by activating cultural sectors in the two countries.

Elsewhere in his remarks, President Raisi underlined that "Palestine today is the top issue of the Islamic world and humanity".

He reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for the immediate ending of attacks on Gaza and the massacre of civilians.

Emomali Rahmon, for his part, welcomed the expansion of cooperation in various fields with Iran, noting that signing bilateral documents between Iran and Tajikistan will enhance the level of cooperation.

He added that historical common ground would expand cooperation between the two countries.
