Hossein Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan following closed-door negotiations in Turkiye’s capital Ankara on Wednesday.
He also congratulated Turkiye on its National Day, noting that the main objective of his trip to Ankara is to focus on the Palestinian issue because the Israeli regime has been committing genocide and massacring Palestinian women, children, and civilians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank for the last 26 days.
The top Iranian diplomat noted that the Islamic Republic keeps on negotiations to prevent the escalation of the ongoing war in Gaza and that President Ebrahim Raisi proposed the idea of holding a summit of heads of Islamic states in order to put an end to the Zionist regime’s war crimes.
If the Gaza war does not stop, the responsibility for the spread of the war will be directly on the shoulders of both the Zionist regime and the United States, Amirabdollahian said.
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas informed the Iranian authorities that some 50 Israeli captives who were held in secure centers such as hospitals were killed during the past 26-day bombings by the regime, he added.
Turkish foreign minister also underlined that Israel will not achieve any of its goals with the use of violence, adding that his country pursues the objective of establishing a Palestinian government with Al-Quds City as its capital.
Fidan added that the siege of the Gaza Strip is an obvious violation of human rights and that Ankara cannot keep silent when it comes to Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians.
Without a ceasefire in Gaza, other factions will also get involved in the war; so, the spillover of the conflict is not in favor of the West Asia region, the Turkish foreign minister argued.
