This move will eliminate the need for Iranian drivers to obtain international driver’s licenses to drive in foreign countries, Hadinafar told reporters in Tehran on Tuesday.
Currently, Iran has mutual license recognition agreements with 72 countries and plans to add 13 more to this list, according to Hadinafar.
The decision aligns with the 1949 Geneva Convention, and Iran is prepared to start issuing these bilingual licenses, the Police Traffic chief said.
The new licenses will be available for Iranians living abroad and foreign drivers residing in Iran, he underlined.
